The Clash of the Titans

The morning started with a heavy downpour leaving the players in doubt as to whether the weather will prevent the soccer match from happening or not.

However 2 hours to the stipulated time  saw the match venue flooded by supporters of both teams seen in groups sharing their expectation from the highly talked about therapeutic affair between INSOLITOS and  PACESETTERS

The match kickstarted  with screams of excitement from fans  of both teams.

Attacks and counter attacks were common sight but the goalkeepers showed that they were not there for a tea party as they made amazing saves.

The highly heated match saw the referee dishing yellow cards intermittently to offending players.While INSOLITO tried to dissect and suture their visitors, the PACESETTERS frantically made effort to sedate their hosts...

It seemed like a ding dong affair with no team showing superiority over the other team until the 34th minute when INSOLITO midfielder Austin Uyanwanne sent a long range cross to Ibe Chiemezie who brilliantly beat 3 defenders before sending a thunderous shot behind the Pacesetter Goalkeeper putting the Home team in front.

The match continued with deft touches, brilliant passes and a few infringements till the refree's whistle signalled the end of the 1st Half !

Worthy of note is the amazing Support the Pacesetters received from their fans despite being a goal down at the end of the 1st half.

The Second half started with a few changes made by Managers of both teams to strengthen their teams.

The strikers acting on the instructions of their coaches made potent attacks but once more
The goalkeepers showed that they were world class with sharp reflexes.

The Pacesetters pushed on like wounded lions while INSOLITO banking on their early lead  relaxed a bit . Eventually they paid for it dearly in the 89th minute when Pacesetters' Azumara Victor latched on a quick cornerkick and brilliantly lobbed the ball over INSOLITO goalkeeper Chukwuemeka Chijioke and the fans went wild in celebration.

At the end of regulation time  both teams settled for a draw;

1 -1,  it was at full time!

Indeed it was a therapeutic affair

  1. Yes, it was really atherapeutic affair. Worthy of note was the cheer song chorused by the pacesetters in the grand stand even when they were a goal behind. With every fibre of their being, the ladies were chanting, "because you score one goal you come dey make mouth, who you epp? you don baff".

    1. The celebration that followed the equalizer was rather epic. It left everyone but the Pacesetters wondering if they had actually won the match. It was indeed a therapeutic affair.
